FAQs

We take on large, high-end projects, such as remodeling kitchens and baths, adding sunrooms, family rooms and master bedroom suites.
We aren’t a handy-man company (“I need a couple of doors installed in my house"). Our job minimum is $150,000, with projects averaging between $250K and $400K and above.

Have a good idea of what you want to accomplish and get a reasonable budget. Then, find someone who’s honest and has an interest in your project. The more definition you can have on the front end, the less confusion and questions there will be later on.
We have learned over the years how to listen to our clients, and that is as important as any skill we could bring to the table. Remodeling your home is a very personal thing. We feel like we’re good at discovering exactly what a client wants, and even in the early stages of thinking through their ideas, we excel at bringing suggestions to the table.

-
Yes, if we think the changes to a house won’t fit in the neighborhood, or the project will price the house out of the neighborhood.
-
Our business is concentrated between the center of Nashville to the center of Franklin, the east side of Bellevue to Interstate 65 and Brentwood. Depending on the project, we sometimes accept an exceptional job located outside of those boundaries.
-
We recommend you hire the builder first, and then the architect. This combination will drive the design and the budget at the same time, so there are no surprises.
If you're already invested with an architect and have a design that you love, we are happy to take a look and determine if we would be the right construction partner for your desired outcome. However, we often find that we can help provide budgetary insight to help marry the design and cost when we are involved from the very beginning.
-
First, when a job fits within our geographic area, we determine the scope of work (size of the project).
The next step is to present the homeowners with a budget proposal on the scope of work based on the estimated budget ranges. During this phase we coordinate our efforts with the homeowners' architect or interior designers.
After pricing the design, we have trade partners (electrical, plumbing, etc.) on location to accurately price the work. A final budget and contract are created and approved. Next, we obtain a building permit, and present a selection list to the homeowners, including vendors. Finally, we build! Crane Builders walks you through the process every step of the way.
-
A small percentage of the job is collected as a deposit upon signing the contract. All other bills are issued monthly based on work completed. Final payment is due upon completion. We request payment be made by check.
-
The great majority of our clients stay in their homes during construction. It really depends on the extent of the project, and how much you are willing to live in a house that is not fully functional during ongoing construction.
-
It could be anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months, depending on the extent of the remodel or renovation.
-
Get to know our team! We have a Production Manager who oversees the production team. These Project Managers run 2-3 jobs at a time and are always available by email, text, or phone.
We have weekly meetings with our homeowners to discuss progress and answer questions that have arisen since our last meeting.
-
Our goal is to exceed expectations! We care about our homeowners and consider ourselves a part of their family. Our team of highly-skilled people, both on the job and in the office, ensures quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
